4. OTP, WhatsApp and marketing messages

One-time passwords (OTP):

  • Merchants receive verification codes by email only.
  • Shoppers receive codes on WhatsApp first. If the code does not arrive in time, it is sent by SMS through an external provider.
  • We use your mobile number for verification codes only, and never for marketing without separate consent.

Marketing messages from Bayex:

  • Sent only to people who have opted in, from a dedicated marketing number separate from our OTP and support number.
  • You can stop them at any time by replying «إيقاف» or STOP, or with the opt-out button. Your request is recorded automatically and no further marketing messages are sent.
  • Our support team may reply from the same number, and we link the conversation to the campaign you replied to in order to improve our service.

Merchant messages to their customers:

  • When a merchant connects their WhatsApp number, they send messages (order confirmations, abandoned-cart reminders, campaigns) from their own number and Meta account.
  • The merchant is responsible for obtaining customer consent before sending marketing messages, and for the accuracy of any contact list they upload.
  • Bayex gives merchants opt-out tools and honours recorded opt-out requests.
  • If you receive unwanted messages from a store, you can opt out from the message itself or contact us to report it.

We keep data for as long as it is needed, then delete or anonymise it.

How to request deletion of your data:

You can ask Bayex to delete your personal data at any time by following these steps:

  1. Email privacy@bayex.net with the subject "Data deletion request", from the email address or phone number registered to your account.
  2. Tell us your account type (merchant or shopper) and, if you are a merchant, your store name.
  3. We will verify your identity, delete your data within 30 days of your request, and send you a confirmation.
  4. Deletion covers your account data, your phone number, and the WhatsApp message and verification-code records we hold.

What we keep: Records we are legally required to retain, such as invoices and accounting records, kept only for the period the law requires.

Data held by stores: Your orders and messages with a specific store belong to that store's owner, so requests to delete them should be sent to the store directly. If you need help reaching the store, email us at privacy@bayex.net.

Children: the platform is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn of it, we delete it.

Changes to this policy: we may update this policy from time to time and show the last-updated date at the top. We will notify you by email or within the platform before any material change.
